A Tapestry of Shared Experiences

We visited the World Rangoli Carpet celebration at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre on February 6, 2026, with mediocre expectations. However we were blown away by the stunningly detailed Rangoli displays crafted by local and international artists. The diverse international themes representing their countries were truly captivating , and the messages of unity, friendship, and national pride resonated deeply.
The creative use of natural materials such as n fresh and dry plants, flowers, petals, sand, rice powder and sago, all dyed in vibrant shades, added a burst of color to the displays. What made the experience truly special was when our National Rongoli hero, Madam Vijaya, personally led our group on guided tour, sharing insightful explanations and offering a hands on experience of creating our own Rongoli. It was incredibly fulfilling and motivating!
To top it off, Madam Vijaya led an energising physical exercise session with music, leaving us all invigorated. We departed with wonderful memories, enlightening experiences, and a thoughtful take-home gift. Our heartfelt gratitude to Madam Vijaya and the organizing team for an unforgettable experience. We hope this becomes an annual event, elevating the humble Rongoli art form to new heights.

Dear Mrs Vijayamohan,
I am writing to share my experience as one of the teachers who accompanied our students to the Singapore World Rangoli Flower Carpet event held on Friday, 6 February.
The event was both informative and enriching for everyone who attended. Our students gained valuable insights into the intricate art of rangoli flower carpet making, learning about the techniques, creativity, and cultural significance behind each design. It was especially meaningful for them to have the opportunity to meet and interact with both local and international artistes, who created flower carpets representing their respective countries.
Students were also given the chance to try their hand at drawing portions of the flower carpet, which allowed them to appreciate the patience, precision, and teamwork required for such large-scale artworks. In addition, we were taken on a guided tour of the various flower carpets displayed according to different themes and countries. Through these explanations, both teachers and students developed a deeper understanding of the objectives and cultural messages conveyed through the art form.
Overall, the experience was highly enriching—not only for the students but also for the teachers. It provided us with meaningful exposure to cultural diversity, artistic collaboration, and the beauty of traditional art expressed on an international platform.
Thank you.
Best regards,

To whomever it may concern
I am delighted to share my memorable experience of participating in the World Flower Rangoli Carpet 2026 held at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre from 5–8 February. Being part of this international artistic event was truly an honour and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Artists and volunteers from several countries came together with a common goal—to create a magnificent flower Rangoli carpet that would symbolize unity, creativity, and cultural harmony.
The entire process was both exciting and enriching. From the initial preparation of materials to the final detailing of the Rangoli, every step required teamwork, patience, and creativity. We worked with a wide range of materials such as fresh flowers, salt, colour powders, sand and decorative elements, carefully arranging them to bring the grand design to life. Watching the artwork gradually take shape over the four days was an unforgettable experience that filled us with pride and satisfaction.
Working alongside my friends and fellow participants created a wonderful atmosphere of friendship and collaboration. We shared ideas, learned new techniques from one another, and supported each other throughout the project. The joy of contributing together to such a large and meaningful art piece made the experience even more special.
This remarkable large-scale initiative, beautifully led by
Mdm. Vijaya Mohan showcased exceptional vision, dedication, and coordination. Her leadership inspired many of us to give our best efforts and helped transform the project into a stunning artistic masterpiece admired by visitors from diverse backgrounds.
I feel extremely grateful and proud to have been one of the participants in this prestigious event along with my wife. It not only enhanced my appreciation for traditional art forms but also gave me valuable exposure to international
collaboration and cultural exchange. I sincerely look forward to participating in many more such creative and meaningful opportunities in the future, continuing to learn, contribute, and celebrate the beauty of art with the global community.

Volunteers from Singapore Namadwaar participated in the ‘World Rangoli Flower Carpet – Singapore 2026’ program. This program was an iconic confluence of East and West traditions and was held for the very first time in Singapore at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Center from 5th February to 8th February 2026. Members of Namadwaar Singapore volunteered for the event across all three days.
About the Program:
This program was organized by the SingaRangoli organization, supported by its international partner, CIDAE (Coordinadora Internacional de Entidades de Alfambristas de Arte Efimoro, based in Spain). More than 30 flower carpet artistes from Spain, Italy, Mexico, Japan, Malaysia, and India joined hands with Singapore rangoli artists during this event to create intricate rangoli, Italian ‘Infioratas’, Spanish ‘Catifa de Flors’, Mexican ‘Alfombras’, and Japanese ‘Hanae’. The program was highly interactive, where various organizations in Singapore were invited to participate in creating colorful rangolis.
About ‘SingaRangoli’ and Mrs. Vijaya Mohan
SingaRangoli is a unique adaptation of the traditional Indian art form of Rangoli, specifically developed in Singapore by artist Vijaya Mohan ji. This art form blends traditional drawing techniques with contemporary materials and approaches, creating intricate designs on a range of surfaces beyond the conventional ground. Vijaya Mohan ji, the creator of SingaRangoli, is recognized for her efforts to promote this ancient art in new and innovative ways, holding a Guinness World Record for the largest Rangoli and numerous Singaporean records in various categories. Vijaya Mohan ji’s work highlights the potential for traditional arts to evolve and remain relevant in modern contexts. SingaRangoli serves as an example of how individuals can promote cultural heritage through creative adaptation and widespread engagement.
Namadwaar Singapore- Contributions and Learnings
It was an enriching experience for the volunteers to witness the sheer creativity and passion of artists and the public in an activity that upholds traditions and fosters unity across diverse cultures.
They guided the public in understanding the art forms, assisted various artists with color filling, helped the coordinators with their operational tasks, and drew rangolis for participating guests to fill with color.
The extent of recycling, sustainable practices, time management, adaptation of age-old art forms to current ethos, and innovation with modern materials were wonderful. But more importantly, the joy of artistic creation by experts and members of the public alike, especially by children, ageing members of society, differently abled friends, and those seeing these art forms for the first time were remarkable.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to you in my capacity as President of the Coordinadora Internacional de Entidades de Alfombristas de Arte Efímero (CIDAE) to formally recognize and commend the "World Rangoli Flower Carpet Singapore 2026" event.
First and foremost, I would like to thank Ms. Vijaya and Mr. Mohan for her dedication, creativity, and success in organizing this entire event. Her meticulous attention to detail regarding all CIDAE guests was exemplary. Our members are extremely pleased with the high quality of the works presented and the atmosphere of friendship and generosity that prevailed throughout the stay qualities that are always recognized and valued by all visitors.
I wish to highlight the immense work capacity and the transmission of values demonstrated by our colleagues, Vijaya and Mohan. The inclusion of school groups participating in the creation of our carpets was a highly successful and rewarding initiative. Furthermore, I must emphasize her dedication to groups of people with disabilities, providing a masterclass in the application of "social carpet-making" that CIDAE promotes and practices.
At CIDAE, we understand that beyond our own labor, the collaboration of government bodies is essential to bring these events to fruition. On this occasion, the support of the National Heritage Board of Singapore was instrumental in making this a reality. For this reason, I wish to express our most sincere gratitude for your contribution. As evidenced by the images documenting the process, your support was utilized to its fullest potential, yielding positive results that reached many people who had the opportunity to learn about, practice, and enjoy our art. Thank you very much for trusting Vijaya and Mohan; I hope you continue to support her so she may continue to produce such magnificent works. They really deserve it.
It is evident that to develop such creative capacity, it is necessary to have an adequate, comfortable space in optimal condition. We were delighted to utilize the facilities of the SINGAPORE CHINESE CULTURE CENTRE . It is an ideal venue for these events, providing all necessary space and comfort while making us feel entirely at home. Our heartfelt thanks go to the directors and all the staff who assisted us. I would like to propose that you continue to assist Vijaya and Mohan so that they may host school workshops for Rangoli and flower carpets in this space. It is vital for young people to discover how this art can instill a sensitivity and set of values that will serve them throughout their lives. Your generosity enabled a vast number of people to visit the carpets and try their hand at creating them.
For all these reasons, I address these words to you with the utmost respect, thanking you for everything you have done to help us and requesting that you continue to support Vijaya and Mohan so she may transmit her artistic and personal values to all who wish to experience this.
Given the success of this edition, I sincerely believe that we must collectively find a way to ensure Vijaya has the necessary resources to continue organizing these events in the coming years.
Please count on our ongoing collaboration; we are eager to return to your city to participate in future initiatives. We represent many groups and can offer a high-quality variety of techniques and designs.
I remain at your disposal and send you my warmest regards.

Carpet event at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) in 2026 was an experience defined by color, fragrance, and community. Set against the backdrop of the “Harmony of Colors” the act of laying thousands of fresh petals to create intricate Rangoli patterns of different countries felt like a meditative tribute to Singapore’s diverse roots. Participating in this year’s art event was an incredible Experience. The city-state was re-imagined as a "living canvas," where the boundaries between the different Countries were blurred.
The 2026 theme, notably reflected in all the Rangolis “Harmony of Colors”.
emphasized a collective strength and shared creativity that resonated through the Event.
A huge credit goes to the SINGARANGOLI, VIJAYA Amma and Mohan Sir for their
seamless arrangement ane efforts for such a Large scale Event First time in SINGAPORE.

To the Organizing Committee and Fellow Artists,
It is with great pride and emotion that I share my experience regarding the World Rangoli Flower Carpet Singapore 2026. This event was not only an exhibition of floral art and alternative materials, but a vibrant bridge between cultures, where the ephemeral art of different nations merged into a single message of peace and beauty.
Representing our tradition in such a prestigious international context was a unique honor. The collaboration with renowned artists such as Vijaya Mohan and the delegations from Spain, Mexico, India, Singapore and Malaysia created a truly global atmosphere.
Our creation symbolically united the Colosseum with Singapore’s Marina Bay and, at the center of the artwork, we chose to place a heart: a sign of unity among peoples, without barriers or borders, a universal message understandable beyond any language.
The warmth of Singaporean hospitality and the presence of international dignitaries and Ministers of Culture highlighted the importance of this festival. We return home with hearts full of inspiration and with the conviction that these carpets of brotherhood are concrete instruments of intercultural dialogue.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to the organizers for the welcome and for making this extraordinary artistic and human experience possible, on behalf of myself and all the participants.
With gratitude,

A quien corresponda:

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to participate in the World Rangoli Flower Carpet Singapore 2026.
This time, Japan created a Kabuki-style artwork based on the traditional Japanese seasonal event of "mamemaki (bean-throwing)". This custom takes place on February 3rd, known as Setsubun. On this day, people throw roasted soybeans to drive away evil spirits (demons, or “oni”) from their homes and invite good fortune.
As there were only three participants from Japan, we faced some challenges during the production process. However, with the help of volunteers who kindly assisted us, we were able to proceed smoothly and complete the work successfully.
The artworks from each participating country were truly outstanding. We learned a great deal from the different techniques and materials used by the other teams.
In addition to the creation of the Infiorata, students and members of welfare organizations participated in Rangoli workshops, where they learned about the artworks and cultures of the participating countries. We thought this was a truly wonderful initiative.
Ms. Mohan and the organizing team must have worked very hard, but all the participants looked very happy, and it was a truly remarkable event. The exchanges between the participating countries were meaningful, and everyone’s hospitality was exceptional.
Thank you very much for inviting us to take part in this special event.
Sincerely,

I am honoured to share my wonderful experience participating in the World Rangoli Flower Carpet Singapore 2026.
My co-artist and I had the proud privilege of representing Malaysia at this prestigious international event. We designed and created a rangoli that depicts Malaysia’s rich identity and cultural heritage. Our artwork featured the Malaysian flag, the iconic Petronas Twin Towers, the Malayan tiger, turtle, traditional elements, local fruits, and the national flower, Hibiscus rosa-sinensis (Bunga Raya). Every detail was thoughtfully arranged using vibrant flowers and coloured materials to symbolise unity, diversity, harmony, and national pride.
The event was truly a remarkable celebration of art, culture, and unity. Being part of such a grand international platform allowed us to showcase traditional rangoli artistry while engaging and collaborating with talented artists from different countries. The process of planning, sketching, colour coordination, and carefully placing the flowers, along with the use of additional materials such as sago, rock salt, coloured sand, and other decorative elements, required patience, precision, creativity, and strong teamwork. Interacting with visitors and explaining the meaning behind our Malaysian-themed design was an enriching and rewarding experience.
This opportunity not only strengthened our artistic skills but also enabled us to proudly promote Malaysia’s cultural heritage on a global stage. It was a memorable and meaningful experience that we will always cherish.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt appreciation and sincere thanks to Ms. Vijaya Mohan for organising such a wonderful and well-coordinated international event. Her dedication and efforts made this cultural celebration truly successful and inspiring for all participants.
I sincerely appreciate the opportunity and look forward to participating in similar international cultural events in the future.
Thank you.
